Alamo Malta Rental Terms for travel between 01-Jan-2010 and 31-Dec-2012
Additional Driver Policy
Additional driver charge is Euro 4.24 + tax per day. There is no maximum number of additional drivers allowed per rental.
Age Requirements
Minimum rental age is 25 years for FVMR, DTMR and SDMR. For all other cars the minimum rental age is 21 years. There is no upper age limit, but if the driver is over 70 years they need a doctor’s certificate issued up to 1 month before the rental start date confirming they are fit to drive.
Young drivers 21-24 years (inc) will be charged Euro 8.47 + tax per day.
Condition of Vehicle
Vehicle must be returned, normal wear & tear expected, in the same condition as when rented. If special cleaning is required a separate charge will be made directly to the customer
Cross Border Policy
Vehicles are not allowed outside Malta.
Licence Requirements
A full valid driving licence must be held for at least 3 years for FVMR, DTMR and SDMR. For all other cars a full valid driving licence must be held for at least 1 year. An international driving permit is not required.
One Way Rentals
Domestic one ways are allowed between all locations and cost EUR 8.47 + tax except one ways to or from Gozo Xlendi which cost EUR 100.00 + tax.
Domestic one ways are allowed for all cars and must be pre-booked. Minimum length of rental is 1 day.
International – not allowed
Out of Hours Policy
Out of hours pickups are allowed at a cost of EUR 15.89 + tax. Out of hours times are different for each location, so please refer to the ‘Additional Info’ section for the location to see if they are allowed. There is no out of hours facility at TAL-BALAL NAXXAR (MLAN71/01).
Payment Policy
All major credit cards accepted (Visa, Amex, MasterCard). National charge card, National vouchers, & Travellers cheques are also accepted. Diners and Eurocheques are not accepted. A deposit of EUR 600.00 including tax is required, which is held against the credit card until the return of the vehicle. Cash, Diners, Visa Electron & Maestro are not accepted to pay the deposit – this must be paid by credit card. The credit card number must be indicated at time of booking. Customers that are unable to produce a valid credit card will not be given the vehicle, even if they have a voucher.
Refueling Policy
Cars are supplied with half a tank of fuel, which must be paid for upon collection. The car should be returned as empty as possible – there is no refund given for any fuel left in the vehicle.
Roadside Assistance
In case of breakdown: A 24 hour emergency assistance phone number is provided on the rental agreement, which is also displayed on the licence disk inside the car. This number is connected to the rental agent on duty. Full details will also be supplied at time of pick up. A replacement car will be provided if necessary. In case of an accident: the customer must call the traffic warden, who will present them with a report. The customer must then call the rental office at the first possible chance, so that the insurance claim forms can be completed for the accident. Full details will also be supplied at time of pick up. A replacement car will be provided if necessary.
Special Equipment
Child/Baby seat – CSB (1 – 3 years) = Euro 4.25 + tax per day. The replacement amount is EUR 200.00 + tax. On Freesale.
Child/Toddler seat – CST (4 – 7 years) = Euro 4.25 + tax per day. The replacement amount is EUR 200.00 + tax. On Freesale.
Navigation System – NVS – EUR 5.93 + tax per day. The replacement amount is EUR 500.00 including tax. On Freesale.
Child/Infant seat (CSI) – Not Available
Baby seats are not loaded in the system. If required, please add to the remarks.
48 hours notice required for all equipment and available at all locations and for all cars.

Insurances & Waivers:
CDW – Collision Damage Waiver
Collision Damage Waiver – waives the client’s financial responsibility for damage to the vehicle to the sum of the deductible. If CDW is applied to the rental, the customer is still responsible for the Mandatory Excess Charge in case of Damage. If CDW not applied to the rental, the customer is responsible for the entire value of the vehicle in case of Damage. THW MUST be purchased as well. CDW and THW MUST be purchased together. They can not be sold individually.

The rental agreement is between you and the supplier and we will not be liable to you or to any third party in relation to the terms of the supplier's rental agreement or any other documentation provided to you by the supplier at the time of pick up.
While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.
Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
Booking information
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice.
If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.

In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.
Vehicle capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.
Refund Policy
We are committed to providing a quality service and aim for complete customer satisfaction. In the event of cancellation, any refunds or penalties are detailed in the terms and conditions of your selected vehicle that you are asked to read and accept at time of booking. In the event you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.
