Sixt Malta Rental Terms for travel between 01-Jan-2010 and 31-Dec-2012

General Rental Information
The renter and the driver have to be in possession of a valid driving licence.
Please show a valid ID card or passport at time of pick up.
Special rental information by booking of Prepaid rates
Changing booking
A booking can be changed up to 48 hours before the start of the rental (on availability) in return for an alteration charge of EUR 20.00. Any payment already made towards the rental will not be refunded; nor shall any differential amount be refunded if this alteration leads to a lesser rental cost.
Cancellation
A booking can be cancelled before the rental begins. In the event of cancellation, the payment in advance already made towards the rental shall be paid back subject to a cancellation charge, which will be withheld and shall be in the amount of the rental charge ( including any extras and charges) for a maximum of 3 rental days. Cancellations can be made online or in writing and must be addressedto: Sixt Malta Headquarter, Fremond Limited, 96 Triq Spiteri Fremond, Qormi - QRM2377, Malta
No-show
In the event that the booked vehicle is not collected or not collected at the agreed time the rental charge already paid shall be withheld in full.

Age Restrictions
Minimum age in Malta is 21.
Maximum age in Malta is 75 years.
A surcharge of EUR 6.49 per day applies for drivers under 24 years and over 70 years of age.
In addition drivers between 71 and 75 years of age need a medical certificate attesting their ability to drive.

Conditions of Payment
Flexi Tariff
We accept all credit cards from internationally recognised credit card companies - such as American Express, Eurocard/Mastercard, Visa.
We do not accept any prepaid cards or debit cards (Visa Electron).
Sixt CarExpress Servicecard is only accepted in combination with a valid Credit Card.
Prepaid Tariff
The following credit cards are accepted: all credit cards from internationally recognised credit card companies - such as American Express, Eurocard/Mastercard, Visa. We do not accept any prepaid cards or debit cards (Visa Electron).
The renter must be the owner of the indicated creditcard. Theauthorised driver details and method of payment will be confirmed at reservation stage and cannot be amended. The confirmed credit card should be valid and available for presentation on collection ofthe vehicle. All extra costs that occur during the car rental will be charged to this credit card.
By booking of a prepaid rate, the credit card will be charged before the startof rental, directly with the estimated total amount of rental. The amount that will be charged on your credit card comprises the price of rental as well as all additional extra fees.
Therental charge (plus any other charges agreed such as, e.g. exemptions from liability, delivery charges, airport charges etc.) plus value added tax in the statutory amount applicable from time to timemust, as a matter of principle, be paid in full for the agreed rental period, i.e. if the vehicle is collected late or returned early there shall be no refund.
Generally
Cash deposits are not accepted.
An advance charge approval is obtained for the chosen means of payment as a security. The exact deposit is determined on collection since the amount is dependent on the vehicle.

General Insurance Conditions
Third Party Insurance (TI)
Insurance coverage for the vehicle rented includes Third Party Liability with a maximum cover of EUR 233,000.- for material damages and EUR 1,100,000.- for personal injuries.
Excluded from the insurance is the use of the vehicle for the transport of dangerous goods. All insurance cover as part of the rental contract will become void, in particular, if an unauthorized driver has used the vehicle or if the driver of the vehicle does not possess the required driver's licence at the time of the event giving rise to claim.
Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)
All rates include CDW. Customer is only responsible for the following amounts:
EUR 500.- (EDMR, CCMR, CDMR, CDAR, CWMR, IDMR, IDAR, IFMR, IFAR, SDMR, SDAR, IVMR, SVMR)
EUR 800.- (ITMR, FDMR, PDAR)
Theft Protection (TP)
All rates include TP. Customer is only responsible for the following amounts:
EUR 200.- (EDMR, CCMR, CDMR, CDAR, CWMR, IDMR, IDAR, IFMR, IFAR, SDMR, SDAR, IVMR, SVMR)
EUR 400.- (ITMR, FDMR, PDAR)
Top Cover CDW
If CDW is already included in the rates, the renter can choose Top Cover CDW to reduce the Non-Waiverable Responsibility.
The cost of Top Cover CDW is as follows: see table
If Top Cover CDW is accepted, customer is only responsible for the following amounts:
EUR 100.- (EDMR, CCMR, CDMR, CDAR, CWMR, IDMR, IDAR, IFMR, IFAR, SDMR, SDAR, IVMR, SVMR)
EUR 200.- (ITMR, FDMR, PDAR)
Top Cover TP

Personal Accident Insurance (PAI)
Personal Accident Insurance provides cover against the consequences of an accident.
The cost of PAI is as follows: see table
PAI includes up to:
EUR 7,000.- for invalidity,
EUR 7,000.- for decease,
EUR 700.- for medical costs.

Delivery & Collection
During Opening Hours
For Delivery/Collection Service a charge of EUR 10.- applies.
Out of Opening Hours
Delivery/Collection Service is on request. Please contact the local rental station.
An out of opening hours charge for Delivery/Collection Service may apply.

Out Of Hours
An Out Of Hours surcharge of EUR 16.52 occurs for bookings out of opening hours.

One-Way Rentals
National
For One-Way-Rentals within Malta a charge of EUR 60.50 applies.
International
International One-Way Rentals are not allowed.

Cross Border Rentals & Territorial Restrictions
Cross Border Rentals are not allowed.
In case of offence against Cross Border & Territorial Restrictions all insurances lose their validity.

Premium Location Fee
A Premium location fee of EUR 16.52 occurs for rentals at airport and train stations per month or part thereof.

All vehicles are supplied with a full tank of fuel and should be refilled prior to return to Sixt, otherwise our current refuelling charges will apply.

Vehicle License Fee
A Vehicle License Fee of EUR 1.77 per day occurs.

VAT
18%
All rates are inclusive of VAT (if VAT incurs).
For corporate customers with individual agreements alternative prices and regulations can apply.

Terms of booking on this website

Liability
To the extent permitted by law we/the owners of this website will not be liable to you or to any third party (whether in contract, tort, or otherwise) for any direct, indirect or consequential loss or damage (including but not limited to any accident, injury, delay or loss of enjoyment) arising out of your reliance upon information contained on this website, including but not limited to your use (or inability to use) any products or services described or procured through this website.

When you pick up your vehicle, you will be required to sign a rental agreement with the supplier of the vehicle. Your rental and use of the vehicle will be governed by the terms of the rental agreement and any other documentation or information provided to you by the supplier at the time you pick up your vehicle. The rental agreement is between you and the supplier and we will not be liable to you or to any third party in relation to the terms of the supplier's rental agreement or any other documentation provided to you by the supplier at the time of pick up.

While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.

Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.

Booking information
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice.

If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.

Information disclosure
In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.

Vehicle capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.

Refund Policy
We are committed to providing a quality service and aim for complete customer satisfaction. In the event of cancellation, any refunds or penalties are detailed in the terms and conditions of your selected vehicle that you are asked to read and accept at time of booking. In the event you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.
